C.J. Fuller, the former running back for Clemson University, died suddenly Wednesday, confirms the school. He was 22 years old.
The cause of Fuller's death is unclear at the moment.

After the death of the young athlete, Clemson Football head coach Dabo Swinney issued a statement on behalf of the "heartbroken" football program.

Before his death, Fuller did not play football, despite another year of eligibility after being the victim of redshirt in his first year. According to ESPN, the athlete announced in February that he was considering playing elsewhere as a graduate.
However, in March he was arrested and charged with armed robbery, along with former Clemson teammate Jadar Johnson, and former lineman duke Quaven Ferguson, reports Clemson Sports Talk. The three men reportedly burst into the threat of a gun in the apartment of a person in downtown Clemson.
During his university career, Fuller participated in 43 games in total with the Tigers during the 2015-2017 seasons. Considered an "impact contributor" by the track and field program, he helped Clemson to three consecutive appearances at the ACC Championships and college football playoffs.
In 2016, at the national championship, Fuller's speed and agility contributed to the victory against Alabama. The victory became just the second national title won by Clemson, since their first in 1981.

He also helped his high school football team Easley High School to enter history by qualifying for the playoffs three straight years before joining Clemson. The show paid tribute to Fuller after learning of Wednesday's devastating news.
In addition to football programs, Fuller's former teammates, coaches and friends spoke on social media, remembering him for his impact on and off the field.
Shaq Lawson, who now plays in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills, is one of those tributes. Lawson shared several photos of his friend – whom he was supposed to see on Thursday – and called his sudden death a "nightmare".
"My brother is hurting me right now," he wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. "Someone woke up from this nightmare. My brother was coming to see me tomorrow. I love you bruh until we meet again # 27 4L???? "
Relatives also consulted the local Clemson newspaper to remember Fuller and his positive energy.
