FORT EDWARD – Harper Michael, six, is not a fan of turkey.
When asked if she liked the Thanksgiving bird, she shook her head and pulled her tongue out.
"It looks raw and it tastes raw," said Harper, a freshman at the Fort Edward's Union Free School District.
Channing Drew, 7, does not care about the festive gobbler either.
"I do not like it," he said. "I have never tried it before. I do not know if I want it or not. "
Although turkey was not topped on Thanksgiving's favorite food list, most first-year students in Fort Edward were eager to eat mashed potatoes.
Charley Belden, 6, loves her mashed potatoes covered in gravy, while Aaliyah Judge, 6, loves her mashed potatoes with a tomato soup.
"I love so much mashed potatoes," said Logan Aul, 6, who said he loved eating the entire bowl of mashed potatoes during Thanksgiving.
But he prefers them without butter, without sauce and without sour cream.
"I hate sour cream," said the boy with brown hair.
Like most of his classmates, Logan is not interested in turkey, but he likes to see his face after his father shot him with a rifle from the side of the yard.
"The turkeys, you have to shoot them with a shotgun," said Logan Kegan, who is 6 years and three quarters.
He never fired himself, but he really wants it, he said.
"You take out all the feathers and put it in the oven," said Logan, who loves his turkey with mashed potatoes, fries and pizza.
Six-year-old Orion Havens, who loves turkey and mashed potatoes, spent his last Thanksgiving at Plymouth Rock, where he spent a night in a hotel.
"I do not know much," said Orion, "but I know that my ancestor was the leader of the people who participated in the Mayflower."

But she was looking forward to Thanksgiving for another reason.
"Sometimes, on the occasion of Turkey Day, the elves come home," said the little blonde. "The name of my elf is Forrest and here is his age. He's 2 years old, I mean 6. And his last name is Dig. But I only call it Forrest.
She likes to eat stuffing and drink chocolate milk and hot chocolate with marshmallows.
"It's time to leave, I'm sad," she says, "because I love all my family, she's super nice, she loves me and I love them.
Six-year-old Lily Woolley, who loves turkey and last year eats it in soup form at a restaurant, said she loved to see her family living away from Thanksgiving.
"Some of my family live in North Carolina," she said. "They can come and I can see them."
Little Emily Gardner also loves to spend Thanksgiving with her friends and family. She also likes her grandfather and dada to go hunting and kill the turkey. But she can not go yet.
"No," she said. "I am too small."
