Fox News presenter Ed Henry told the elected Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Saturday, accusing him of making fun of his financial situation in Fox's "America's Newsroom" on Friday.
Ocasio-Cortez admitted in a New York Times article that she could not afford to move to Washington until her new Congressional salary came on the scene.
Henry said she often saw the New Yorker doing photo shoots in "multi-thousand dollar outfits, which could pay a month's rent in DC". Ocasio-Cortez responded to Henry via Twitter stating that she "had never bought expensive clothes.
"Listen, I understand," Henry replied at "Fox & Friends" Saturday morning. "I live in Washington, it's very expensive … Congress members earn $ 174,000 a year – that's a lot more than people across the country."
Henry said he thought there was a housing crisis in America and invited Ocasio-Cortez to come on the network to discuss the issue.
"Let's talk about this issue," said Henry. "You are now a member of Congress or you will be very soon. Go Fox. "
