Frances McDormand will play the voice of God in the forthcoming drama series of Amazon "Good Omens".
Executive producer Neil Gaiman announced the cast on Friday at a panel of showrunners for several Amazon Studios series and moderated by Variety editor Debra Birnbaum. Gaiman called it "the weirdest way" that he had ever thrown.
"We knew that God would be a woman," said Gaiman. "We were talking about great American actresses, because we wanted her to have an American voice.And one day, I received an email from Frances McDormand asking to borrow my home in Scotland." [19659002] Gaiman, whose novel "Good Omens", co-authored with Terry Pratchett, said that by adapting the book to the series, "The biggest challenge for me was the absence of Terry Pratchett's this world."

Ben Edlund, executive producer of "The Tick", said that season two of his series would feature Tick and his sidekick Arthur would involve in "a Homeland Securtiy type organization." He added: "We've got a lot of new characters and I'm having a lot of fun when Tick and Arthur go down and become the new heroes of the city."

Naren Shankar, executive producer of "The Expanse", said that he had discovered that Amazon had chosen the series for a fourth season after Syfy canceled it by attending a dinner which Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos was talking about. "In the banquet, he announced that he has picked up the show," Shankar said. "We were all surprised, it was a stunned experience."
Sam Esmail, executive producer of "Homecoming," said that he was initially reluctant to assume the adaptation of the popular podcast but warmed up to the idea after thinking about ways to bring it to life visually. He announced that the series, with Julia Roberts, will be premiered on November 2nd.
Gale Anne Hurd also teased the second season of anthology horror "Lore", of which she is the executive producer.
