Franklin man killed in Rhode Island accident

A Franklin man was killed in a car accident in Rhode Island, injuring his passenger, the state police of Rhode Island said Saturday.

The accident occurred around 8:40 pm Friday night on Interstate 95 in Richmond, according to state police.

Igor Nadtochij, 49, was heading south when he lost control of his car.

His car "left the road, came back on the roadway and hit another car, then spilled and caught fire," said state police.

The top 10 local reports from the Boston and New England subways were broadcast daily.

Nadtochij and a passenger, a Franklin woman, were ejected from the car. The woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. Nadtochij was declared dead on the scene, according to state police.

The driver of the other car, a New Yorker, was not injured, state police said.

The accident is still under investigation.
