American Airlines travelers have a new free flight entertainment option.

The world's largest airline now offers live television on more than 100 domestic flights, and plans to expand the service to 700 aircraft by the end of 2019, while American will improve Wi-Fi options. Fi in flight.

Passengers on domestic flights will have their choice of 12 channels: Bravo, CBS, CNBC, CNN, Disney, ESPN, Fox, NBC, NFL Network, Telemundo, TNT and USA.

Shows, which are added to TV shows and movies on demand, will not be available on the file screens. Travelers will watch them on their laptops, smartphones and tablets. The best part: you do not have to pay for Wi-Fi in flight to access the channels.

Free TV is available on the Airbus A320 and Airbus A319. These planes are used on many routes, including Dallas / Fort Worth-Atlanta, Seattle-Phoenix, Nashville-Charlotte, Philadelphia-Fort Lauderdale and Washington National-Charlotte.

American is a latecomer for live television, at least on domestic flights. JetBlue has made it a hallmark of its service with file screens offering a direct DirectTV free. Southwest Airlines offers free TV for several years and Delta offers free live TV on select flights.

American likes to boast of being the only carrier to offer free live TV on international flights. The carrier states that its entire long-haul international fleet includes five channels, including CNNi, BBC and Sport24.
