The National Weather Service has released a winter weather advisory regarding freezing rain Saturday morning, which covers most areas west of Interstate 95, including Frederick County and the surrounding areas. northern parts of Montgomery and Howard counties in Maryland, as well as Loudoun County and northern Fauquier County in Virginia.

The notice runs from 6 am until Saturday noon. The National Weather Service said that freezing rain and ice pellets would make travel difficult, and drivers should expect slippery roads.

The weather service reported total ice accumulations of about one-tenth of an inch before the precipitation turned into a united rain before noon Saturday.

Expect rain almost all day Saturday at around 9pm according to StormTeam4 meteorologist Matt Ritter.

The good news: Sunday is sunny, calm and close to 60 years old.
