A four-level shoring system under the temporarily closed Fremont Street Salesforce Transit Center is complete and the road will reopen in time for the Monday morning commute, the Transbay Joint Powers Authority announced on Sunday.
The reopening of the street comes two days earlier than planned by the authorities.
The closure of the Transit Terminal and Fremont Street was held late last month after the discovery of cracks in two beams located along the roof of a bus bridge crossing Fremont Street between Howard and Mission Streets.
Since the closure of the center, operations have taken place at the Transbay temporary terminal. Transit operators continue to provide bus service from the Transbay temporary terminal on Howard and Main Streets. Transit information is available at 511 or 511.org.
The $ 2.2 billion transit center opened in August and served as a regional bus depot. It was planned to connect it to Caltrain and to the state's high-speed line.
