Friday the 13th receives another reboot, and LeBron James is involved

The 2018-2019 NBA season has just begun and it goes beyond the almost unrealistic conclusion that the Golden State Warriors will have three rounds, one of the biggest stories is LeBron James starting the next chapter of his Laker career in Los Angeles. But LeBron does not just come to Los Angeles to play; he's going to Hollywood. The production company of LeBron James is now involved in a restart of Friday 13.

Vertigo Entertainment and SpringHill Entertainment by LeBron James are in talks to create a reboot of the iconic horror franchise, which dates back to the 1980s Friday 13 and has twelve installments to date including Freddy against Jason. This potential restart is still in its infancy, but meetings have been organized with potential writers and filmmakers for the project, according to Deadline.

This news comes as a result of a legal decision regarding the rights of the horror franchise. Victor Miller, the writer of the 1980 film, has regained American rights to Friday 13 under copyright recovery laws that allow authors to retrieve their work 35 years after selling it at a low price. With this legal battle now won, rights issues that have held another Friday 13 are apparently less of an impediment to pursuing the franchise in the future.

After his victory, Victor Miller took the SpringHill Entertainment restart from LeBron and Vertigo. SpringHill Entertainment has entered into a production contract with Warner Bros. Studio.

This is not the first time that a reboot has been attempted. Last year, a Jason Voorhees restart was scheduled to take place in Paramount from Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes. The studio denied the project, after rings failed at the box office, confusing the failure of a movie with a lack of viability in all horror reboots.

Clearly, this state of mind is no longer prevalent in Hollywood, given the current success that the horror in general meets at the box office, and especially the horror reboots of iconic properties, such as the proves last year. HE and just released Halloween. The moment seems opportune for Friday 13 to get a Halloweenrefresh style.

Michael Myers' reboot-which took advantage of a record-breaking box-office opening last weekend and the best all-time debut for a franchise film, proving that these horrific numbers have a special place on the modern film market.

The last film of the franchise was the 2009 Friday 13, which was in itself a reboot of the property, but failed to deliver critically and did not exceed $ 100 million in its entire global race. But we are ten years later now, which seems to be the difficult period before many reboots, and being the 13th entry of the franchise should be a good sign that this potential restart will bring Jason back to visibility and let him make his mark in this new age of horror.

This is not the only restart of a name property in which LeBron James is involved. All-star and SpringHill Entertainment also participate in a remake of Party at home as well as the highly anticipated Space Jam 2. It remains to be seen if LeBron James can also restart the Lakers.
