A British nurse was arrested Tuesday for allegedly killing eight newborns and attempting to kill six more in the neonatal unit of a British hospital, officials said.
Lucy Letby, 28, engaged in the killing at Countess Chester Hospital in Chester, England, authorities said.
Her arrest shocked friends and colleagues, who said she was dedicated to the work and babies she was in charge of.
A friend, Jordan Sands, who knows Letby through an old girlfriend, told the London Times: "She was pretty clumsy and geeky but seemed to be a generous person."
