At CHI St. Joseph Health, a breast health navigator helps breast cancer patients navigate the often scary and confusing process of cancer.

From the moment a patient receives an abnormal mammogram result, Elizabeth Freeman, a navigator for breast health, is part of the health care team.

"I'm going to spend time with her on every test and procedure and help explain what's going on," Freeman said. "Since this program was put in place in 2012, we are finding that we are not letting patients slip through the cracks and not complete the treatment."

Breast Health Navigators also help CHI Saint-Joseph patients with their insurance and planning issues. For the complete Freeman interview, see the video player above.
