In A declarationFulham said Ranieri had secured a "multi-year contract" at Craven Cottage.
Jokanovic left Fulham with the lowest of the Premier League team, having accumulated five points in his first 12 games and lost each of his last six. They also have the worst defensive record of the division since they conceded 31 goals and they have not yet held the score.
President Shahid Khan said:
"I did not expect to have to make this announcement regarding Slavisa and wish the circumstances were such that I did not have to, but our way this season has led me to take what I know to be the good decision, at the right time, for our players, the club and our supporters. "
Jokanovic joined Fulham in 2015, shortly after winning a Premier League promotion with Watford.
After keeping Fulham in the league in his first season, he guided them to the play-offs the following year, where they lost to Reading. Last season, the 50-year-old again led them to the play-offs and this time they triumphed over Derby County and Aston Villa for promotion.
Alex Harris of the Daily Star thanked the Serb for his service:

Thank you for bringing our club out of the base, giving us an identity, organizing two exciting seasons in the championship and, most importantly, * this * day of May @Jokanovic. A true Fulham legend. #FFC
It has now made way for Ranieri and ESPN FC's Michael Cox has indicated that the pair has come full circle:
Ranieri said about his appointment:
"It is an honor to accept Mr. Khan's invitation and the opportunity to lead Fulham, a fantastic club with tradition and history. The goal in Fulham should never be to survive in the Premier League. always be a tough opponent should expect to succeed.
"This Fulham team has an exceptional talent that goes against their position in the standings, and I know this team is very capable of better performances, which we are going to work on right now when we are preparing for Southampton at the Cottage. "
Fulham became the 18th team Ranieri led in his coaching career that began more than 30 years ago.
The Italian led teams such as Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan at that time, but his greatest achievement came in 2016 when he guided Leicester City-What had just survived the previous year– in the Premier League.
He was sacked the following season due to lower results, but not before the Foxes group in the UEFA Champions League to help them qualify for the round of 16.
Last season, Ranieri was in charge of Nantes. The 67-year-old left at the end of the campaign after finishing ninth in Ligue 1.
James Benge of Standard evening and Liam Twomey of ESPN FC think Fulham can change the game under Ranieri:
James Benge @Jamesbenge
Fulham has the quality of the players to reverse the trend and thrive in the league, their hope will be Ranieri creates an atmosphere in which they feel that they can express and prosper.
Liam Twomey @liam_twomey
Fulham has the talent of the first half but is sorely lacking in tactical cohesion. Ranieri should give them that. A better choice than standard panic appointments #ffc
The temperatureOliver Kay is less convinced:
Oliver Kay @OliverKayTimes
What is odd for Ranieri is that, despite perhaps the #LCFC's greatest modern day management feat, its record of the last ten years or more is not extraordinary when you look at clubs he managed. Should improve Fulham, but maybe not quite the appointment "no risk" Khan suggests
Cottage owners will bet on Ranieri, which will lead to an immediate improvement to get them off the table.
Fortunately for Fulham, despite their poor start to the campaign, they are not yet adrift. They are only four points from Newcastle United in 14th place.
They are only three behind Southampton, their opponent to come, who is above Cardiff only by the difference in goals.
Since the saints have not won a match since September 1, Fulham's home game against them on November 24 will be a great opportunity to start climbing the ladder.
