08h20 PT – A source very close to Fuller tells us that the football star had undergone physical therapy to rehabilitate his knee a few hours before his death … and it was clear that something was wrong.

We were told that Fuller had torn his ACL during a flag football match about 2 weeks ago and had undergone surgery to repair the injury at the end of September.

Fuller started her physical therapy for the first time on Wednesday (10/03) as part of her recovery and completed a full session without problems.

When he returned home, we were told that he "went to the ground" and asked for water – clearly feeling that something was wrong.

People close to C.J. called an ambulance and he was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead soon after.

There are rumors The death of Fuller is directly related to the complications of knee surgery – but we are told that it has not yet been determined.

We spoke with the coroner who told us that an investigation into the death was underway.
