Gary Neville calls Manchester United "rotten deep" … but the club insists that Jose Mourinho has all his support

Jdare Mourinho retains the support of the Manchester United board to redress the situation. The United Kingdom faces Newcastle tonight in hopes of avoiding a fifth consecutive winless match for the second time in 20 years. They are currently 10th in the standings, nine points behind leaders Manchester City, after only seven matches.

Mourinho is under increasing pressure, but his position does not seem to be subject to an immediate threat, despite reports that he was fired last night, regardless of the outcome of the match against Newcastle.

Ed Woodward, Executive Vice President of United, who was attacked by Gary Neville last night for leading the club, is determined to give Mourinho more time to bring the club back to victory.

Woodward has supported David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, Mourinho's predecessors, at times when their positions seemed unsustainable and will do the same with the Portuguese.

United officials had a meeting with Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, in London yesterday, but this was linked to discussions on a new contract for goalkeeper David De Gea. Spain No. 1 is out of contract at the end of the season, but the club has the option to extend the agreement for another 12 months until June 2020.
