Gas leak causes house explosion in Gladwyne

GLADWYNE, PA. (WPVI) –

A 9,000 square foot house exploded in Gladwyne, Lower Merion Township.

The Chopper 6 HD was on top of the scene as the teams painted the debris.

The explosion occurred just after 20 hours. on block 600 of Dodds Lane.

One could hear the explosion from as far as South Jersey.

"Our whole house trembled, we are about two or three kilometers from the road.We did not know what it was, a kind of explosion," said one resident who heard the news. ;explosion.

Authorities say the cause of the explosion is a gas leak.

"According to the information we have at this stage, the house is being renovated, a significant part of the single-family residence has been razed and we benefit from the help of ATF and the Marshal State Fire, they are on the way, "said Supt. Mike McGrath

We were told that there was no one inside the house at the time of the explosion and that the family was living in a secondary house when the main house exploded.

No injuries were reported.

Debris could be seen in the trees surrounding the house.

CEEC teams are working on the scene to cut gasoline.
