Gates quarterback Kyle Trask was eliminated from the practice after an injury; uncertain status

Florida quarterback Kyle Trask suffered a serious contactless injury at Wednesday's training and was sent off the field, according to several reports, questioning his availability for Saturday's game against Carolina from South.

Trask played in the relief of starter Feleipe Franks for the number 15 Gators (6-3, 4-3) in the second half last week. 38-17 defeat against Missouri.

After the match, Florida coach Dan Mullen did not rule out Trask's start against Gamecocks (5-3, 4-3) on Saturday.

Franks had nine interceptions out of 22 with two interceptions before giving up his seat to Trask while he remained about five minutes in the third quarter. Trask scored the second try twice en route with a touchdown in his first possession.

Mullen refused to reveal his starter for Saturday, saying earlier Wednesday: "I will not share our strategy," but the question may be moot.

24/7 Sports, who was the first to announce the news, said the injury had been inflicted on a "lower limb of the body".

Trask, a sophomore who missed all of last season with a foot injury, has played three games this season and scored just one goal in addition to the passes.
