The news comes just days after Perry contacted Owens via Twitter by writing: "#GeoffreyOwens I'm about to start filming OWN's number one next week! Come join us!!! I have so much respect for people jostling each other between concerts. The measure of a true artist. "
Owens later stated that he had been affected by the offer.
"It was pretty cool," he said. Entertainment tonight. "I mean, that kind of sounded like he was saying," Come work with me. " I am skeptical. Like really? Are you saying come and work with me? Because we have never worked together before. So it's a very, very generous thing for him to say. And we'll see what happens with that. But it's encouraging.

Owens – who played Elvin Tibideaux on The Cosby Show from 1985 to 1992 – also opened to people about the attention he received last week, calling the support incredible and incredible.
"I've learned never to give up," he said. "Often, I was about to leave the job at Trader Joe's, but I did not do it. But it was quite embarrassing and uncomfortable doing this kind of work [and be] recognized from time to time. I wanted to go from time to time, even though I was grateful for the work. But if I did that, none of that would have happened.
"It's because I kind of hooked up and persevered that all these amazing things are now happening," he added. "I'm someone who perseveres generally, but that has confirmed me how important it is to stay hooked. I think it's so important to so many people in my area. Just hang on!
And Perry is not the only one to support the actor: Nicki Minaj recently said she wanted to donate $ 25,000 to Owens, calling it a "complete legend."
