Geoffrey Owens Lands Guest Role on NCIS: New Orleans

Geoffrey Owens, who was recently hired online after photos were presented to him at the grocery store at Trader Joe's, won another theater spot.

according to Weekly entertainment, the 57 years old Cosby Show alum will appear in episode 6 of NCIS: New Orleans"Season 5, aired at the end of October.

He will play Commander Adams, an esteemed old friend of Pride (Scott Bakula), for both medical and spiritual advice.

The news comes one week after Owens' producer / filmmaker Tyler Perry's bid on his hit OWN, The Haves and the Not Nots. He would have played a recurring role of 10 episodes in the sixth season of the series, which is about to start shooting in Atlanta.

Owens – who played Elvin Tibideaux on The Cosby Show from 1985 to 1992 – recently revealed to PEOPLE that the Bill Cosby scandal was only one of the factors that led him to look for work outside his industry.
