Former "Cosby Show" actor Geoffrey Owens adds a guest role on CBS's "NCIS: New Orleans".

It's the second starring role announced for 57-year-old Owens, after reporting on the fact that he was shopping at a Joe Trader's in New Jersey. Last week, Owens played a recurring role in Tyler Perry's OWN series, "The Haves and the Go Not."

Celebrities and other people have been supporting Owens after Fox News and the Daily Mail appeared to shame him of his grocery work. Owens, who worked at Trader Joe's for 15 months, played the role of Elvin, Sondra Huxtable's husband, in 'Cosby' in the '80s and' 90s and he appeared more recently in an episode of "Lucifer" in 2017.

On "New Orleans", Owens will appear in the sixth episode of next season in Cmdr. Adams, "an old and precious friend that Pride (Scott Bakula) is going for both medical and spiritual advice." The episode should be aired at the end of October.

According to the description of the episode, Pride, "still moved by his deadly pinch during the first / season of the season, consults his friend Adams" on the cause of his current symptoms and on what he should to relieve them.

Executive producer Christopher Silber explained the casting's motivation: "For Cmdr. Adams, we needed someone with compassion, skill and heart. … It's Geoffrey in a few words. An accomplished actor who seemed to be the ideal solution to complete our extended repertoire company.

Season 5 premieres on September 25 (10 EDT / PDT).
