Geoffrey Owens accepted an offer from Tyler Perry to work on the director's TV show "The Haves and the Have Nots".
A Perry representative confirmed to HuffPost that Owens will be filming in Atlanta, Georgia, and will play a recurring role in the series. He will play in ten episodes.
Perry tweeted about "The Cosby Show" star earlier this week, praying to join "OWN's number one next week!"
It is unclear when Owens' episodes "The Haves and the Have Nots", a drama broadcast since 2013 that follows the intersection of the rich and the poor, will be broadcast.
Owens, who was recently "hired" by Fox News for working at a Trader Joe grocery store, first responded to the call with humor, telling Entertainment Tonight that the offer Perry was "pretty cool".
"I mean, that kind of sounded like he was saying," Come work with me. " I am skeptical. Like really? Are you saying "Come work with me"? Because we have never worked together before, "said Owens. Perry is not the only person to have shown his appreciation to Owens this week. Rapper Nicki Minaj pledged $ 25,000 on her Queen radio show Thursday because she believes he is a "legend".
"Personally, I want to donate, on behalf of Queen Radio, $ 25,000 to Geoffrey Owens," she said. "You know why?" Imma tells you something, "This man is a true legend in these streets.
