When Bill Clinton came to visit, George W. Bush showed his sweet side by sporting a unique pair of socks that represented the face of the Democrat who beat him over 25 years ago.
Bush, 94, has a history of expressing himself with a keen sense of dress, primarily with the strength of his sock game.
During Clinton's visit to Bush's home on the Kennebunkport coast in Maine, the two former US presidents shared a laugh. But socks were the real subject of political debate.
In case there was a doubt that POTUS # 41 was prepared for his encounter with # 42 POTUS, Bush shared a photo of his fancy feet to his personal Twitter account with a slight caption.
"Special tour today with a great friend – and now, a successful author." Fortunately, I had a pair of freshly blanched @BillClinton socks to mark the occasion, "Bush tweeted. The president is missing, the Clinton thriller co-writes with James Patterson.
As one would expect, people were all there, expressing everything from worship to laugh about the homage.
Bush never met a sock with a message that he did not like. At the funeral of Barbara Bush in April, he wore socks decorated with stacks of colorful books to honor his long-time dedication to literacy.
Clinton also met Sully, the new service dog that the Bush family enlisted.
