An aspiring Georgian model died of brains after being shot in the neck while driving, causing a frontal collision with the car ahead of her and leading to a wreck of several vehicles on Monday, said her family.
Kelsey Quayle, 28, was driving around 7 am on Upper Riverdale Road in Clayton County when a person opened fire and hit Quayle by the throat, FOX5 Atlanta reported. Quayle lost control of his car and crashed into another vehicle.
"We believe [the shooting] was the main cause of his lack of awareness, leaving the roadway in traffic, "said Clayton County Police Captain Scott Stubbs.
At least three vehicles were eventually involved in the wreckage.
Quayle was taken to the hospital where the doctors discovered that the bullet was lodged in his neck, the Quayle family said. The projectile had severed his spinal cord at the base of the brain, causing him catastrophic brain damage. On Wednesday, his family reunited at the hospital to discuss the possibility of withdrawing Quayle an aide to life, but it was not clear if a decision had been made.
"I just want to know who did that, it's ridiculous, she did not deserve that," Quayle's sister Kayleigh told FOX5.
The police appealed to the public for help.
"Right now, one theory would be driving rage, or maybe just a cross shot," Kayleigh said. "But we have so many unanswered questions."
Quayle, along with her boyfriend, had moved to Georgia a few months ago to start a modeling career, her family said. She was going to work at a dentist Monday morning after being shot.
