BERLIN – German police have announced that they have arrested six men suspected of planning an attack against immigrants and politicians, while the country is facing a violent reaction from far-right groups which followed the influx of migrants.

The suspects, who were all between the ages of 20 and 30, belonged to skinhead and neo-Nazi groups, the federal prosecutor said on Monday. The attack would have occurred on Wednesday, on the occasion of the Day of German Unity, commemorating the anniversary of the reunification of Germany.
