HONOLULU (AP) – A hamburger chain based in Hawaii has closed a Honolulu restaurant for cleaning after airing a video on social media showing a rat cooking a rat on the grill.
Teddy's Bigger Burgers closed the Mapunapuna site and fired two employees who appeared in Snapchat's video.
The president of the company, Richard Stula, said in a statement that he was investigating the authenticity of the video and was "horrified" by the conduct of the employees.
According to Stula, equipment and utensils are being replaced in the restaurant being "completely disinfected".
He added that a team of the company would inspect and audit the restaurant before it reopened.
The state health ministry is scheduled to inspect Friday the fast food restaurant on Mapunapuna Street.
