SPRINGFIELD, Vermont (AP) – A woman from Vermont, whose family peacock escaped with a volley of turkeys, said she hoped she could get close enough to catch her at the net.

The peacock belonging to René and Brian Johnson has been on the run for six weeks.

On Wednesday, the Johnson posted a message on the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Facebook page: "My peacock has escaped with the turkeys. Do you have any suggestions on how to catch the little twerp? "

Rene Johnson told WCAX-TV that she thought the bird she called Pea was alone, so he looked for companions to turkey.

Johnson said Friday that she was close to Pea on Thanksgiving Day but that she could not catch it.

Johnson is worried about the cold, but she recognizes this unusual situation, which she describes as "rather fun".
