Giants Ereck flowers for Chad Wheeler

The New York Giants take a significant step on their offensive line.

After two mediocre performances, former first-round pick Ereck Flowers is being measured before Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, a source told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Chad Wheeler should start tackling instead of Flowers, Rapoport said. It remains to be seen if Flowers will save Wheeler or if the Giants will make it inactive for the match.

Flowers, who was selected ninth in the overall standings by the NFL Draft Giants in 2015, struggled to make an impact on the Big Blue offensive line (his colleague Nick Shook broke the difficulties of the first week of flowers). With the team choosing not to choose its fifth-year contract option for 2019, Flowers's time in New York could be in jeopardy if he fails to resume his role.

Wheeler, who signed a free agent contract by the Giants last season, started five of the eleven games he played last year. It remains to be seen whether he is able to take over.
