Eli Manning is not going down without a fight.

With manning leading a game-winining drive down the field that gave the Giants (2-7) a 27-23 win over the 49ers (2-8). New York grabbed its first win since Week 3.

Manning connected with Sterling Shepard has a 3-yard touchdown pass and went 6 of 9 for 69 yards on the final possession. It was one of three scores that Odell Beckham Jr.

Nick Mullens had some impressive moments for San Francisco in his second career start, but two costly interceptions – one of which led to a touchdown – to linebacker D.J. Goodson. Matt Breida (132 yards from scrimmage, two touchdowns) and Robbie Gould (3-for-3 in field goals) were the biggest standouts for the 49ers.

Neither team has not been successful, but they have been able to get off the ground.

The Giants will look at a pair of wins together next Sunday when they play the Buccaneers, while the 49ers will have a bye week before they too face Tampa Bay.

11:21 pm .: Mullens' pass goes out of the back of the end zone and this game is over! The Giants hang on.

11:19 p.m .: A pass from Mullens to Goodwin gets the 49ers to the 21 and they spike it with one second left. One final play will decide this game.

11:18 pm .: Trent Taylor 's reception gets the 49ers past midfield and spike stops the clock with 18 seconds left.

11:16 p.m .: Mullens' first pass is incomplete but the Giants are flagged for a rough penalty. Mullens then connects with Kendrick Bourne for six yards. San Francisco will have to take a second look at the last half of the time.

11:13 p.m .: TOUCHDOWN, GIANTS. Sterling Shepard stays in the world of manners and the Giants take the lead with 53 seconds left. Giants 27, 49ers 23.

11:11 pm .: Manning finds Barkley on his way to the 12-yard line. Big opportunity for the Giants.

11:08 pm .: The penalty flag has been the theme of these final two minutes. Giants get pushed back on a holding, and two plays later. They are on the 35 of the 49ers with 1:41 left.

11:05 pm .: A false start pushes the Giants back an extra five yards, but then the 49ers shoot themselves in the foot by committing a holding penalty on third down to move the chains.

11:02 pm .: Richard Sherman snuff out a screen pass and stop Saquon Barkley in the backfield for a loss of three. Third-and-7 coming up after the two-minute warning.

11:01 p.m .: The Manning to Evan Engram connection makes a rare appearance tonight to move the Giants into 49ers territory.

10:56 pm: FIELD GOAL, 49ERS. The 49ers are unable to convert to their next third and Robbie Gould hits his third field goal of the game to put San Francisco back ahead. The Giants will have 2:46 to get points. 49ers 23, Giants 20.

10:52 pm .: Breida does enough to get the first down on a third-and-1. Exactly what the doctor ordered to keep the drive alive.

10:50 p.m .: A couple of big plays have the 49ers threatening. Breed with a long run to the drive and Mullen finds Kendrick Bourne through the air to get down to the opposing 30-yard line.

10:46 p.m .: It was a long time coming, but the 49ers got the first sack for either team in the game to end the Giants' drive abruptly.

10:42 p.m .: Trading punts nowadays both are holding strong when they need to most. Giants with the ball and try to break the tie.

10:35 p.m .: Nothing doing for the Giants, who fail to capitalize on the turnover. It's a three-and-one with 13:34 left on the clock.

10:21 p.m .: A reverse end-around to Sterling Shepard on the first play of the drive net 27 yards.

10:17 p.m .: A three-and-one by the 49ers followed by the punt returner has the Giants set up nicely to try and tie the game or take the lead. They will start at the 49ers' 47-yard line.

10:10 p.m .: TOUCHDOWN, GIANTS. Beckham reels in his second touchdown of the game to cut the deficit back down to three. Manning found him on the perfect strike. 49ers 20, Giants 17.

10:07 p.m .: Corey Coleman, making his 2018 debut, takes the kick out to the Giants 47-yard line to give his team great field position to start their drive.

10:03 TOUCHDOWN, 49ERS. An 11-play drive that lasted nearly the first seven minutes of the second half-ends in an 11-yard touchdown pass that Matt Breida laid out for in the end zone. 49ers are up two possessions. 49ers 20, Giants 10.

9:31 pm .: A holding penalty and chunk completion George Kittle has the 49ers on the move. They're at the Giants 30 with 18 seconds left in the half.

9:22 p.m .: FIELD GOAL, GIANTS. A draw play to Barkley on third-and-goal is unsuccessful and the Giants settle for a chip shot out of the two-minute warning. 49ers 10, Giants 10.

9:16 p.m .: A pass interference on Richard Sherman, who was defending Beckham, gives the Giants another key first down.

9:14 p.m .: Manning completes a third-and-8 into a tight window to give the Giants a crucial conversion. They are now in the red zone.

9:10 p.m .: A defensive facemask penalty, 13-yard pass to Odell Beckham, and 7-yard run up the middle by Barkley has moved the Giants into 49ers territory quickly.
