Jags cornerback Jalen Ramsey is known for his trash conversations, but the Giants' object will not let him down during Week 1.
The New York Giants host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in the first week of the 2018 NFL season. The clash means the Giants star receiver, Odell Beckham Jr., will have cornerback Jags Jalen Ramsey, the famous trumpet player and one of the best corners in the league, in his ear all afternoon.
While Ramsey was appreciative of Beckham in a GQ article last month, he criticized Gaints QB Eli Manning. Despite their off-road friendship, Beckham does not expect the same treatment as Ramsey during the match.
"I'm sure it will not be as friendly as during the off season," he said on Wednesday. "We are both very competitive and I know for sure it will be a good match."
Beckham says he will not accept the bait if Ramsey tries to put himself in the lead on Sunday. This has already happened against other backs, including CB Josh Norman in 2015, but Beckham insists that this time will be different. He will not let anything by Ramsey say.
"I think I learned my lesson," he said. "[Ramsey] is, if not the best, one of the best corners of the league. There is no way around it. "
Asked about Norman in 2015, Beckham "took the cheese," he said. "I can not be angry at everything that happened, I bit it, so everything is fine."
On Sunday, Beckham will play his first game in 11 months, after a break at the end of the season in October 2017. He underwent an operation on the ankle and participated fully in training after his rehab, but he has not played yet .
Beckham became the highest paid receiver in the league this summer after signing a $ 95 million five-year deal.
When he will line up for the Giants' first game on Sunday, it will be Beckham's first since his final against the Chargers last fall.
