According to the Bartow Police Department, two students from Bartow High School, in Bartow, Florida, came to school with knives and planned to attack students on Tuesday.

The school's resource officer was alerted to a complaint about armed students around 1:30 pm Police said the girls planned to kill up to 15 students.

Police said the school staff found the two girls in a bathroom during school hours before carrying out their projects. They were arrested and left the campus.

Nobody was hurt.

Police said that school staff had initially heard of the possible intrigue Monday when a student told a teacher that one of the suspects had said they were not going to visit a specific building of the school.

In response, several Bartow police officers and Polk County MPs were on campus Tuesday.

After the first period, the mother of one of the suspects was notified by the school that her daughter had not appeared for the second period. His mother called the school and said that her daughter had been filed that morning, police said.

At a news conference on Wednesday, Bartow Police Department Chief Joe Hall said that after receiving the call, school principal Christopher Roberts organized the school's staff. and the police to search the school.

Hall said that Chandra Johnson, the school's deputy director, had found the girls in a bathroom in the building, another student, who had said he had warned her. Johnson also saw that the girls had a goblet, which she suspected contained alcohol.

Roberts has asked the officer in charge of school resources, Alexander Guzman, to test the alcohol in the cup, authorities said.

Hall said the girls were taken to Roberts' office and one of them was asked to empty his pockets. At that time, school staff found a knife and a sharpener, said Hall.

The staff asked the girl why she had a gun and she said that she and the other girl planned to attack and kill as many students as possible, Hall said.

The police then searched the girls and found several other knives, including a butcher's knife, said Hall.

The two girls told the detectives that they were preparing the murder of at least 15 people and that they were hiding in the bathroom to wait for smaller students that they could master. their victims, said the police.

"They told us that they were worshipers of Satan," Hall said. "They made comments that they were ready to drink blood and possibly eat flesh."

Hall said he did not talk to the girls' parents.

The detectives said that during the search of one of the girl's phones, they found a message saying that the girls were considering "leaving parts of the body at the entrance" and then committing suicide.

Detectives from the Bartow Police Department are investigating the incident with the Polk County School Board.
