Glenn Hoddle was taken to the hospital after falling "seriously ill" on the BT Sport studio set.
BT then canceled their weekly football results show BT Score.
Hoddle, who turned 61 on Saturday, had participated in BT's breakfast show, Live Saturday Morning Savage, alongside Robbie Savage and Paul Ince, and was scheduled to appear on the television show in the afternoon before getting sick.
BT Sport Score presenter Jake Humphrey was among the first to send a message of support to the former English and international coach.
"Each of us is right with you Glenn, sending love and strength," he tweeted. Commentator Darren Fletcher also tweeted, "Thoughts go to my companion and colleague @GlennHoddle. A bad new.
Kelly, another Hoddle colleague on BT Sport Score, said: "Glenn Hoddle got sick and was treated at the hospital. Everybody at BT Sport and, I'm sure, in all football, wishes everyone the best. "
Gary Lineker wrote on Twitter: "An extremely disturbing news that Glenn Hoddle has collapsed earlier in the BT studios. The thoughts are with him and his family. Come on Glenn.
Hoddle was an extremely talented player. He won 53 team selections in England and played a key role for Tottenham in the early 1980s, after winning two consecutive FA Cup victories. He led Chelsea and took England to the 1998 World Cup before taking on Southampton, Spurs and Wolves.
In 2008, he set up the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain, focused on the development of young technical players escaped from English football. He currently works as an expert for the ITV channel coverage in England and for BT Sport, which mainly covers the Premier League.
Tottenham tweeted: "Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to @GlennHoddle for a quick and complete recovery after being sick this morning."
