GM launches electric bike business – TechCrunch

General Motors has announced plans to launch two new electric bicycles on the market, one folding and the other compact, as the automaker uses more electrification and more. Other ideas that attempt to go beyond the traditional business model of producing and selling Gasoline Vehicles.

The automaker did not have much information to share about e-bikes or its ultimate projects. For example, Hannah Parish, director of Urban Motors Urban Mobility Solutions for Urban Mobility, would not say whether GM is considering launching a bike sharing service with these two new products. "We know that people living in urban areas, like me in downtown Toronto, need different opportunities to use different types of transportation when they go and do different things. We know that congestion in cities is a problem and e-bikes are fueling our efforts, "TechCrunch, director of Parish, director of General Motors Urban Mobility Solutions, told TechCrunch.

GM has revealed two electric bikes – a folding and a compact.

For the moment, GM focuses on naming e-bikes. And it's up to the public to help him. The company launched a brand name campaign on Friday as part of its broader announcement on the electric bike. Those who want to name e-bikes can visit www.eBikeBrandChallenge.com. The entrant with the winning selection will receive $ 10,000. Nine other finalists will each receive $ 1,000.

Submissions will be accepted until November 26th. Winning submissions will be announced on January 31, 2019.
