General Motors is recalling 1.2 million large vans and SUVs primarily in North America due to power steering issues cited in several accidents.

GM indicates that the power steering may fail momentarily during a voltage drop and come back suddenly, mainly during low speed turns. Such a failure increases the risk of crash. The company says it has 30 accident cases with two injuries, but no deaths.

The recall involves certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, as well as some Chevy Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon 2015 SUVs were also affected.

Dealers will update the power steering software at no cost to the owners. No date has been set to inform customers, but GM says the software is available now, so owners can contact resellers to schedule repairs.

More than one million trucks are in the United States and most of the others are in Canada and Mexico. There are a few in other countries.

GM last year recalled the 2014 model year trucks for the same problem.
