GM recalls more than a million pickup trucks and SUVs for the power steering problem

General Motors is recalling more than one million large pickup trucks and SUVs in the United States because power steering can stop briefly.

The recall involves certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, as well as some Chevy Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon 2015 SUVs were also affected.

GM indicates that the power steering may fail momentarily during a voltage drop and come back suddenly, mainly during low speed turns. Failure would increase the risk of crashing. The company did not mention any crashes in the documents filed with the government.

Dealers will update the power steering software at no cost to the owners. No date has been set for the recall to begin.

GM last year recalled the 2014 model year trucks for the same problem.
