According to police and Google officials, a Google bus hit Monday an employee of the company's finance department near its headquarters in northern California, announced Monday.
The company identified the victim as Emily Hong. She was touched near the company's main campus in Mountain View, California, around 6:45 pm, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. First responders practiced CPR, but her death was declared on the scene, according to the report.
Authorities said she was 20, reported The Mercury News in Northern California.
"She brought an incredible spark to Google," said Gina Scigliano, a spokeswoman for Google, in a statement. "She was curious, creative, analytical, positive, generous and kind. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. "
The bus had passengers at the time of the crash, said Katie Nelson, spokesperson for the Mountain View Police, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigators, the police said. Drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors in the accident, the authorities said.
Officials are investigating the incident and no one has been found responsible, the reports said.
"Please note that the investigation is still very active and that we will publish additional details to the extent of our means," police said in a press release, according to The Mercury News.
