Gordon Hayward will make his first return to Utah Friday after leaving the Jazz and signed with the Celtics more than a year ago as a free agent.
Before returning to the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, he sent a message to fans who once applauded his name for seven seasons.

This "#GameOn" attitude will extend hardwood to the stands on Friday, while Jazz fans are quite ready to boo Hayward from the building.
"I'm going to boo him, I'm going to lose my voice – I'm just going to boo him all night when he gets into the field," said Simeon Mismash, Jazz fan, at the Salt Lake Tribune. "I will never be ashamed as Gordon Hayward. Deron Williams … Enes Kanter … Derek Fisher, all combined will be Gordon Hayward on Friday. "
It's not uncommon for fans to hate a player who jumps into the city (see: Flaming LeBron James jerseys), but it sounds personal to some Jazz fans who think Hayward's departure is a bit harder than others then days between the launch of Utah to keep it and its decision to go to Boston.
"I'll give him the silence he gave to Gail and the Jazz," said Utah fan Diana Allen, about how she plans to host Hayward on Friday.
Another fan, McKay Peck, added: "If he was gone in a good way, I would encourage him for what he did for the franchise, but I'm going to boo him because of the way he left. "
