The rapprochement of PDP and NC, the traditional rivals of the state, marks a major realignment of political forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

After the June 19 withdrawal, People's Conference leader Sajjad Lone reportedly contacted disgruntled PDP leaders to form an alliance with the BJP, sources said. People Conference has only two deputies.

Imran Ansari, a former PDP minister, is among those who attended the People's Conference.
