In a sudden development, the governor of Jammu and Kashmir, on November 21, dissolved the state assembly, which was in abeyance, soon after rival alliances had claimed the formation of the government.
The governor's reign was blocked at J & K on June 19 for a six-month period following the collapse of the PDP-BJP coalition government after the withdrawal of the saffron party. The State Assembly was also held in abeyance so that political parties could explore the possibility of forming a new government.
The decision of Governor Satya Pal Malik to dissolve the state assembly under the relevant provisions of the state Constitution was announced in an official statement. The state is now moving towards another period of central domination after December 18, when the governor's reign ends.

Earlier, the former chief minister and boss of the PDP, Mehbooba Mufti, had claimed the pretense of forming a government with the support of Congress and the National Conference.
Shortly after, People's Conference leader Sajad Lone also said he wanted to form the government with the help of the 25-member BJP.

Lone's claim
