The Baltimore Ravens made a low-risk decision to help the No. 24 NFL attack by swapping a Green Bay Packers benchmark for running back Ty Montgomery, the team said.

The Packers will receive in return a seventh round pick in 2020, said a source to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The deal comes two days after Montgomery made a special mistake, starting the fourth quarter off the end zone and making a costly breakaway in a 29-27 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Montgomery, a third-round pick in 2015, went from catcher to runner in the middle of the 2016 season, but he admitted Monday that he was not sure of his role with the Packers. Even before fumbling with the Rams – an error that prevented Aaron Rodgers from trying to win a winning practice – Montgomery had only played six free kicks. He left the field after his last play and admitted to having expressed some frustration on the sidelines of the match.
"I did not play a lot, I could not play and I was frustrated by that," said Montgomery. "I do not quite understand my current role, what I'm supposed to do, how I'm supposed to help this team.And it's frustrating to want to help this team and that the opportunities are limited did not have place on this game. The Ravens race has run out of steam this season with Alex Collins (3.7 yards per race) and Buck Allen (2.6). Baltimore is the only NFL team to have not made a semi-final to score more than 20 meters.
Montgomery has been one of the most versatile players in the league as a rider and receiver since being recruited by the Packers in the third round three years ago. At the very least, Montgomery is providing an upgrade on Allen as Baltimore's third file.
In his fourth season in the NFL, Montgomery had 1,676 yards in action (849 in 177 attempts and 827 in 97), scoring 10 touchdowns (7 on the ground and 3 on the receiving end).
This is only the third move to add a player to the trade deadline for the Ravens in 22 years of history. Baltimore added offensive tackle Eugene Monroe in 2013 and wide receiver Chris Givens in 2015.
The Ravens bring Montgomery in one of their most critical seasons. Baltimore (4-4) is in third place north of the AFC and is looking to avoid missing out on playoffs for a fourth consecutive season, which could jeopardize the 11-year-old series of coach John Harbaugh and quarterback Joe Flacco.
Baltimore was on the market for another half. The Ravens have eliminated five halves, including Jamaal Charles, Friday.
To make room for Montgomery, the Ravens have released the player from the special teams Albert McClellan.
For the Packers, it seals a two-headed field consisting of Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams. The Packers will have to add another player to their lineup – Jones, Williams and Montgomery were the only backs out of the 53 at the time of the transaction. They had taken Darius Jackson for the start of the season while Jones was serving a two-game suspension.
