The countdown to The Walking Dead “What Comes After” is down to its final hours and Greg Nicotero shared a very special behind the scenes photo.
On the one hand it’s hard to look forward to this week’s episode of The Walking Dead knowing that it’s time to say goodbye to Rick Grimes and Andrew Lincoln, but on the other hand it’s exciting to know that fans will be reunited with three faces from the show’s past as Jon Bernthal, Scott Wilson and Sonequa Martin-Green return for cameos. Greg Nicotero, who directed “What Comes After,” shared a picture of Andrew Lincoln and Jon Bernthal ahead of Sunday’s episode.
Jon Bernthal returns to The Walking Dead fold on Sunday’s episode, and though we don’t have details about the nature of his return we do know what he looks like thanks to Greg Nicotero, who shared this photo of Lincoln and Bernthal on set.
Take a look:
While Andrew Lincoln looks like a few years have passed since season 1, Bernthal looks like he’s gone back in time. He’s dressed in his sheriff department uniform and he looks like the Shane of old, complete with tough guy look. It’s so great to see them back together for sure, but seeing the photo only makes us wonder how their scene will play out.
In the early days of The Walking Dead seeing Rick and Shane together was a lot of fun. Before Rick and Daryl became brothers, it was Rick and Shane who were bonded like brothers after working side by side in law enforcement. Their relationship soured when Shane had a very different view of the future, and ultimately this led to Shane’s demise. Later we learn that Shane is actually Judith’s father, so a small part of Shane continues to live on long after his death.
Andrew Lincoln’s final episode of The Walking Dead airs Sunday, November 4 at 9pm on AMC.
