WASHINGTON (USDA) Cargill Meat Solutions recalls more than 130,000 pounds of ground beef after the death of one person and nearly 20 people became ill.
According to US Department of Agriculture, ground beef products carry an "EST". 86R "in the inspection mark of the USDA and were packed on June 21, 2018.
An investigation conducted by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has identified 17 related illnesses and deaths, with dates of onset of the disease from July 5th to July 25th.
Cargill Meat Solutions' ground beef products were identified after Recall 072-2018, August 30, 2018, where ground beef products were recalled as part of the E. coli O26.
Health officials are concerned that some customers are storing contaminated beef in their refrigerators or freezers. The agency advises anyone who has bought the product to discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
