Dozens of people were trapped in their vehicles when roads in Rome were whitewashed by a severe hail storm that struck the Italian capital.
Images on social media showed ice drifting from the storm blocking commuters and stopping the busy European city.
Images show flood waters laden with ice and garbage crossing city streets and the subway.
People could be seen in the pictures trying to escape their vehicles.
Local media told the police that many people had been trapped in their vehicle due to floods.

According to reports, at least six subway stations were closed Monday morning (local time) because of the conditions.
Commentators have called the storm hail after a long period of heat in the country.
But it is not only Rome that has suffered the shock of the storm.
According to the BBC, firefighters have been called all over the country, from Milan north to Sicily to the south.
Florence and Pisa have also been affected by the weather, reported the British press service.
