A student from the University of Kentucky who filed a police report on a campus bomb threat on Wednesday was arrested for falsely reporting an incident and threatened with terrorism.
The woman who was arrested, 19-year-old Haily Duvall, is a sophomore from Glasgow and a part-time employee of UK HealthCare, according to a university statement.
Duvall's threats have triggered a heightened "security presence" around the cleanroom building, but protests and classes will continue normally on Thursday, said President Eli Capilouto.
According to the quote from his arrest, Duvall allegedly showed the police four screenshots of Snapchat messages stating threats to the campus and the British community. The messages threatened to harm people inside the White Hall classroom building on Thursday.
"A threat mentioned," Wait, I'm going to fuck this whole dam school "with an emoji bomb," said police in Duvall's quote. Another message indicated that the person who uttered the threats was "ready to die," according to the court's records.
The students sent 18 more Snapchats screenshots to LEX. One of them said: "White Hall is about to become a white ash with every student * expletive that it contains".
Duvall continued to send new threats to the police and provided two separate user names to an unknown user of Snapchat, according to his arrest quote. Police found Duvall's IP address and she was arrested Thursday at 14:45, police said.
After questioning Duvall, the police said they confessed to posting all of Snapchat's threats that she had sent to the police, with the exception of one.
British police have been working with the FBI to make the arrest, according to a statement from the university.
On Wednesday, Duvall was interviewed by Kentucky Kernel and said she took the threats seriously. His story was published before the police determined that it was Duvall who posted the threats.
