Hamidou Diallo, Thunder's rookie in Oklahoma City, left the floor on a stretcher in the fourth quarter Wednesday night, apparently injured his leg.
Diallo jumped for a rebound in the transition and, after landing, Golden State Warriors striker Jonas Jerebko landed awkwardly on Diallo's legs. Diallo immediately began to roll on the ground and escaped from the field and under the basket. The teammates had their heads in their hands and looked visibly shaken by the injury.
Diallo, a second-round pick, was an asset to the Thunder, ensuring a stable spot in the rotation as a defensive spark plug. He started on Monday instead of Terrance Ferguson against the Sacramento Kings and scored 18 points on 7 out of 7 shots.
The Thunder has recently been hit by a wave of injuries in the backcourt. After recovering Russell Westbrook after a sprained ankle, goalkeeper Alex Abrines missed the last three games due to illness. Goalkeeper Terrance Ferguson was released in the first period against the Warriors and did not return because of a sprained left ankle.
Diallo, 20, averages 6.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15 games before Wednesday's game against the Warriors.
