Harry and Meghan may not become William and Kate's neighbors after all

The sumptuous 21-room apartment is ready for the newly married Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but after a costly renovation of £ 1.4 million, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not be moving into apartment 1 of Kensington Palace, just next door William and Kate Middleton– after all. According to sources at the palace, long-time residents of Apartment 1, the duke and The Duchess of Gloucester, still live in the house and do not plan to move.

Kensington Palace declined to comment, but a friend of the Gloucesters said, "They are still on the property and have not said anything about the next move. Yes the Queen have asked them to leave then they would of course, but for the moment they are there.

Meghan and Harry, who currently live at Nottingham Cottage on the palace site, would have been delighted to settle in the neighboring property of Apartment 1a, where William and Kate live with their three children. There is even a door connecting the two properties.

It had been thought that the apartment had underwent major renovations to prepare for the arrival of Harry and Meghan. Another resident of Kensington Palace Princess Michael of Kent speculation about the plans when she said in an interview to the magazine, "They have [the Gloucesters] are arguing around this huge space and I think Prince Harry could go there. Then they "would be neighbors one of the other – very good movement."

The news that Harry and Meghan may not become neighbors to William and Kate will come just weeks after the announcement of the division of homes by the princes at Kensington Palace and the separation of their offices. The palace has so far refused to comment, but there is speculation that Harry and Meghan could leave Kensington Palace entirely. The couple spend more and more time in the Cotswolds, where they rent a farm in the Great Tew area, about an hour and a half drive from Kensington Palace.

"They use their current home, Nottingham Cottage, as a pied-à-terre when they have to be in London," said a source. "The rest of the time, they are mainly in the Cotswolds."

With the arrival of baby Sussex in the spring, Harry and Meghan will undoubtedly need more space. The impeccably landscaped cottage in Nottingham still has only two bedrooms and when the mother of Meghan, based in Los Angeles, Doria comes to visit, the space is limited.

"When Doria comes to stay, they are usually in the Cotswolds," the source added. "There's just not enough space in Nottingham Cottage, which is why Doria has found her own place in London so she can get closer to Meghan when she's in the capital."

Again, William and Kate stayed at Nottingham Cottage after Prince George was born while waiting for apartment 1a – the former residence of Princess Margaret – to be transformed into their home in London. "They spent most of their time in Norfolk and came to London when they needed it," said an assistant. The Sussex may choose to do the same. They love the countryside and are eager to raise their children away from the spotlight. Harry has already said that he wants to raise the couple's children as normally as possible and that living in the country would give them some privacy.

No matter where they land, Harry and Meghan are not short of possible foci. The Queen would have offered the York Cottage couple on the Sandringham Estate and Adelaide Cottage at Windsor Home Park. It is also possible that they choose another residence in London if they exclude the move to apartment 1. According to the brokers, York House and the Palace of St. James are also options.

Wills was a bailiff at the wedding and now he is the godfather of the Grace (who was also the damsel at the weddings of Will and Kate, she made the faces and stole the hearts.)
