Vinayagar Chaturthi 2018 started with a fabulous feast for Rajinikanth fans. Director Shankar's movie 2.0 teaser was released today, after many delays. In minutes, the video received about a lakh of views on YouTube.
Unlike the CGI in the first part, Enthiran, criticized for its mediocrity, the visual effects in the upcoming film are decent. A little exaggerated, to be honest.
Shankar, who is rigorous when it comes to revealing his little details on his films, has let a good part of the plot in the teaser.
Even from the teaser of a minute and a half, you know exactly what version 2.0 will be.
The first part ended with the government ordering Vaseegaran (Rajinikanth) to dismantle Chitti, after the devastation that he creates in Chennai for his love interest Sana (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan). Before the end of the credits, we saw Chitti in a museum, where he was kept for a public exhibition.
Now, it looks like he was reminded to duty by the same government to fight the mysterious supervisillain (Akshay Kumar). Akshay Kumar could be a scientist who goes on the dark side after a personal loss. A story so typical of the supervillains of the Marvel and DC Universe.
This surveillance exerts a certain force on mobile phones around the world – a kind of telekinesis that only concerns mobile phones. On top of that, he seems to control crows, much like Antman controls ants.
The story seems to be about how modern humans are slaves of their cell phones. There is probably no greater calamity today than losing your cell phone. It is an extended arm for most of us.
The teaser also continues to show both versions of Chitti – the good Blue Chitti and the bad Red Chitti (a touch of Dr. Bohra from the first part). This could mean two possibilities: either they improve Blue Chitti after it does not succeed in stopping the raven, or they make a new Red Chitti and those two then take a man.
Chances are the two Chittis will fight together. There is also a clue. It is said that Sudhanshu Pandey plays the son of Bohra and we see it in the trailer when Vaseegara suggests the idea of resurrecting Chitti.
It could mean that Bohra Jr will be the one who will create Red Chitti, the evil that is needed to fight evil.
But Shankar could have some surprises in his sleeve. We hope that he does it.
