Jamal Adams made it very clear: the Jets' effort in Sunday's 41-10 loss to the Bills at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford "was not good enough."
And when it came to the tricky question of whether or not any of the young people had to go out of their lives, Adams started off just as forceful.
"Not that I know of, but that is not going to happen," said Adams. "Not on my watch, I'm not going to leave, I'm not speaking for everybody here. This building will not be so easy.
Jets' potential coaching targets
Then, strangely, Adams started to back off before toggling back to his usual pitbull-like self.
"I can not speak for other people," said Adams. "Everybody comes from different backgrounds and everybody has their mentality or what they're going to do, it's not going to happen, it's just not going to happen, I just know it's so blunt, but it's really just not going to happen. "

But those middle few lines raised some eyebrows – as did he answer when asked if everyone in the Jets' locker room is as sick of losing as he is.
"Everybody comes from different backgrounds," Adams said. "That's something I can not control." "I can not answer that question, because everyone is different."
Adams is not usually one for mealy-mouthed responses; he's usually more likely to sweeping declarations and demanding things through the sheer force of his own will.
Some of that was still there this week, to be sure. But there are also some cracks starting to show in the facade.
Four straight losses and a 3-7 record can do that.
