If you have Dish and have been trying to watch HBO or Cinemax since November 1st, you already know that these channels are no longer available. Users have not received any prior warning and the Dish website contains very little information that can provide an explanation of the sudden power failure.
Dish TV has 10.6 million subscribers who can not suddenly look Game of thrones, Westworld, Last week tonight or whatever they want to see on HBO or Cinemax. This is the first time in the history of television that HBO disappears from any distribution service, according to the Hollywood Reporterand do not forget that HBO was the very first wired network. It was created in 1975.
Basically, the disagreement between AT & T and Dish boils down to a central problem: money. Is not everything?
Both sides have begun to shut up one another through the media and the situation is starting to deteriorate. AT & T, owner of the DirecTV service, recently merged with Time Warner, owner of HBO. On Tuesday, HBO President Richard Plepler issued a statement on the current merger and blackout.
"It's just not true that AT & T is related to our inability to reach a reasonable deal with Dish … It seems like a stupid but transparent attempt by Dish to scramble the cards for some reason that they can explain. "
Charlie Ergen, Dish's president, discussed Tuesday's merger at Dish's third quarter earnings conference call, noting that "it's a purely anti-competitive game we've been trying to warn" Packaging.
"We have always managed to reach an agreement with HBO," he said.
"We can not sign a contract that we would actually pay for their customers."
Plepler responded to Ergen's comments stating, "In fact, we have proposed to extend our current contract while continuing negotiations. An idea that Dish had initially accepted and then strangely changed in the eleventh hour. "
Ergen said it would be a "malpractice" for him to sign the agreement signed by HBO, according to Deadline.
"It's important to point out that it's Dish that dropped the HBO and Cinemax signals on Oct. 31 at midnight, and not the other way around," Plepler said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Dish's customers are not too happy with the blackout.
Yo @dish can you answer this question for me?
Where are my HBO channels / my HBOGo account?

This is BS, I am a FLAT customer who lives in a VERY RURAL area and I am LIVID, I went to watch @ Billmaher and see that my HBO is gone! I am a very loyal customer for over 20 years (with different TV providers), what you did, it's CRAPPY! Give me my HBO back!

How long will Dish's customers have to wait before returning from HBO and Cinemax? Well, Univision is no longer available on Dish since July because of a conflict.
In other words, things do not seem very optimistic at the moment. The two sides are hotly scolded, and Dish does not have much success in reconciliation.
