Rust Cohle. Ani Bezzerides. And now, Wayne Hays.

Season 3 has a name worthy of the franchise, but now that the next group of True detective episodes is just beyond the calendar year horizon, the audience has a little clearer idea of the character behind.

HBO has released another preview of Mahershala Ali, Inspector Hays, and the rest of the season 3 cast, which follows an unexplained case related to the Ozarks. Joining Ali this season is an impressive ensemble, with Carmen Ejogo as a local teacher, Amelia Reardon. Grandma Gummer and the mustache Scoot McNairy co-starred as parents struggling with the after-effects of their families being at the center of other child-related crimes.

Like Season 1 led by Cary Fukunaga and taking place over several chronologies, this new True detective will find Wayne struggling with his own actions at different stages of his life.

This season also has a curious collection of directors. Pizzolatto will make his first appearance behind the camera, Daniel Sackheim making his return to HBO after the devastating Leftovers episode "G'Day Melbourne". Blue ruin and Green room Director Jeremy Saulnier has also directed several episodes. David Milch has also contributed to this season as a well-known co-author of the script for the fourth episode of the upcoming season.
