Before becoming the first lady in the country, ABC News spoke with Melania Trump as she was a model with the future President of the United States, Donald Trump, and asked her what she thought was at home -Blanche.

On December 3, 1999, the 26-year-old Slovenian supermodel named Melania Knauss met with ABC News correspondent Don Dahler following a photo shoot in New York. for the North Shore Animal League campaign. She and real estate mogul Donald Trump had met the year before at a New York Fashion Week party.

When asked if she could run for first lady, Melania replied "yes," adding that she would "support" and "stay" Donald Trump and emulate the first ladies of the American past.
"I would be very traditional, like Jackie Kennedy and Betty Ford," she said at the time, adding that she would like to work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for her charitable cause.

Melania denied accusations that she frequented the money of her 53-year-old business boyfriend, claiming that you can not "talk with" or "kiss" beautiful things.
"They do not know me," she said about the opponents, describing Donald Trump as "very kind" and "very charming."
Dahler later asked her if she was "in love" with Donald Trump, to which she replied, "Yes."
When asked if she would agree to sign a marriage contract, given "the story of Donald Trump with acrimonious divorces," she responded that she would not rule it out , adding, "Let's see what happens."

Several topics discussed during the 1999 interview echoed Melania's sentiments throughout the 2016 election and her husband's presidency.
Melania was cautious about talking openly about her desire to marry her boyfriend of the time because she had been "misquoted" in the past, indicating that she had already developed a mistrust towards the media.
The model smiled politely before refusing to comment when Dahler asked her if she would say yes if Donald Trump offered it to her.
"The media can sometimes be very delicate," she said. "You must be very careful."

"I also love my privacy Yes, but I'm always open I do not fear the media I'm not shy for the camera.It's my job.It's my career. But sometimes it can be very delicate and unpleasant, unfair. "
When Dahler asked Melania if it concerned her boyfriend called himself a "playboy," she said it did not bother her.
"It's a men's business and sometimes I find it very cute," she said.

Dahler then asked if she felt insulted or as if she was "a nice possession" when Donald Trump said things like, "Where's my supermodel?"
"It's his sense of humor," Melania replied. "He's very nice."
Melania also talked about what would be a "big president", her boyfriend, claiming that she had said she believed that he would end up being a candidate.
"He's very smart," she says. "He knows how to do business, it would be great."

Melania said that she considered the United States as a "dream country" when she had grown up in Slovenia.
"Your dreams could come true," she says. "You can do a lot of things, wherever you decide to do it."
The couple then married in January 2005 in Mar-a-Lago, the beachfront estate of Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida.
