North Dakota Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp appeared to endorse a false statement by the Democratic Party of the state suggesting that citizens would lose their license to hunt out of state if they voted in this year's elections.

"Voting means that you are a resident, that means you pay taxes here, it means that if you want a residency hunting license in Minnesota, that means you will not get that, if you vote here" Heitkamp told a group of journalists on Saturday.

She was answering a question about a Facebook advertisement from the Democratic Party warning North Dakota fighters that they might be forced to give up their licenses out of the state they voted for in that election.

"If you want to keep your hunting licenses out of the state, you may not want to vote in North Dakota," notes the ad, before creating a link to a website of the North Dakota website. party that broadcasts similar warnings.

"You MUST be a resident of North Dakota to vote here. And if you are a resident of North Dakota, you risk losing hunting licenses you have in other states, "said the website.

PolitiFact called the claim "pants on fire", meaning that the advertisement was probably designed to discourage people from voting.

"It's hard to interpret in any way, except that it's trying to discourage people from voting. But voting will not cost anyone their hunting permits, "said the auditor in an article on Friday.
